3 Ways To Unlock Comic Book Magic In Real Life


Magic superpowers are everywhere in comic books. We read them and live vicariously through the tales of ordinary (and already magical) people discovering newfound strength, insight, and power. But, guess what? There are actual magic powers that we can tap into in our real life. Seriously! (No alien encounter required 😉)

Ready? Here are 3 superpowers you can bring into your everyday life. Right now.


1. Empathy.

Empathy is the most everyday superpower. Feeling other people’s emotions and picking up on their energy is so common but we often shake it off and close off the power it offers us. That’s understandable because it often can feel overwhelming. And it’s easy to do when the world constantly tells us not to be “so sensitive.”

But like Deborah Hanekamp of Mama Medicine says: “Your sensitivity is your strength.”

Having compassion gets us further in life because it allows us to feel connected with each other and understand a bit better where another person is coming from. It helps us hear, support, and foster deeper relationships with the people around us. And, while it is a strength, it can feel like a lot if we don’t manage our sensitivity.

The best way to manage is to make sure you aren’t carrying other’s feelings as your own. At the end of the day, first thing in the morning, or whenever you feel called, clear your energy, or as some call it: cut the energetic cord. 


✨ How to unlock your powers:

To do this, all you need to do is visualize the people you’ve interacted with throughout the day. One at a time, imagine a cord of energy between you and them. Think to yourself, “I give you your energy back” and imagine the cord dissolving to the earth. Finish by thanking them.


2. Mind control.

Mind control is a power that’s a bit creepy, to be honest. Although, when we were kids it was our most desired superpower (next to flying, of course.) We could will our parents into letting us stay up past our bedtime, eat dessert for dinner, and buy that toy our tiny worlds revolved around! But as adults, trying to control, dominate, or manipulate others is not okay.

However, there is a kind of mind control that is pure magic… It’s a meditation and, through it, you can connect with others beyond the physical…because all thoughts are shared. When things aren’t going well between us and other people, we get caught up in what isn’t working or what’s wrong. We focus on the drama. Feeling attraction, frustration, anger, desire, resentment in an unproductive way. We crave to control the outcome but that just makes things worse.

However, there is one thing we can control: wishing the other person happiness. Whenever you feel tension with someone and can’t work it out in person, this is the time to create the most healing outcome… Because when we release feelings of tension or control, we allow loving, supportive, non-controlling vibes to reach the other person.


✨ How to unlock your powers:

To really super charge this meditative experience, lay down or sit up, close your eyes and place your hands over your heart. Imagine the person and think to yourself, as if you’re speaking to them: “I wish you happiness and peace.” Feel that wish radiating from your heart. And feel how good it feels. And after doing this for a number of days, the result is often, like Marianne Williamson says: “either the situation will change or you won’t care.” See? Magic.


3. Time travel.

As if. That’s not just a phrase coined by Cher Horowitz in the movie Clueless. It’s also a major player in manifestation and The Law of Attraction: acting “as if.” In other words: shifting your focus and energy to act as if you’re already where you want to be. Another way of looking at it is: quantum leaping. While, based on the principles of physics, a quantum leap (or jump) is the abrupt transition of an electron, atom, or molecule from one quantum state to another… It also is defined more broadly as a huge, often sudden, increase or change in something.

We can attract (or: manifest) things when we set an intention and surrender control over it. By living in a place of already having (whether we actually have it or not), we never feel lack. We can feel the feelings that benefit us. This isn’t about living in false hope or looking at the world through rose-colored glasses. The purpose of The Law of Attraction is to follow what feels good.

Live and be human. Feel all feelings. But take a beat and time travel to what feeling ultimately serves your greater good. This can be: feeling love even though you’re single, feeling success before you’ve made a single sale, or feeling that you can be happy at some point down the road (even when you’re feeing far from it).


✨ How to unlock your powers:

So the next time you find yourself craving something you wish for or feeling envy on social media, use that nudge as an “itinerary” of places where you can “time travel.” Quantum leap. Act as if. And no matter what plethora of magic will follow…you’ll be ready for it because you’ll already be feeling it!
