A father-daughter co-creation

To find purpose following his Alzheimer's diagnosis, Lawrence J “Larry” Nelson (1942–2021), a former architect, drew every day while at home with his daughter, Morgan Lindsay Nelson, and his ex-wife, LouAnn. Larry created hundreds of designs using his old drafting tools. As his illness progressed, he’d proudly call himself “Lawrence J Nelson, Artist in the Sky.”

When increasing medical needs required Larry to enter memory care, Morgan became her father’s fiercest advocate, fighting through severe barriers to protect his safety, dignity, and care within the elder care system.

In honor of his life and work, Morgan created five prints from Larry’s archives, titled the Eleven Forty-One Collection, to share his art with the world and spread awareness of the need for nursing home reform and protections for dementia patients. Each print is named after an architectural element as a full-circle reflection of Larry’s creative journey...

A journey of many highs, even amongst the lows. Until May 2021 changed everything.
